Walker
The WALKER® is a pediatric hip-knee-ankle-foot orthosis (HKAFO) used in cases of neurological disorders in children and difficulties with independent mobility. The WALKER® offers high support for gait training and provides sensory information about the correct walking pattern. Our WALKER® orthosis helps children maintain an upright posture.
THE HKAFO WALKER® CONSISTS OF 3 MAIN ELEMENTS:
1. Hip Orthoses (HOs) with special adjustable handles.
2. Knee Articulation Extension with ROM adjustment (KAFO).
3. Ankle-Foot Orthosis Extension with ROM adjustment (AFO).
The knee articulation extension is constructed with lightweight lateral orthoses equipped with a Joint Flex Control drop lock for ROM adjustment. This drop lock is made of highly durable steel, ensuring its resilience to any load.
Importantly, the inner orthoses of the lower limbs are connected with a special element that prevents the child from excessive abduction of the legs while walking and indicates the correct walking pattern to the child.
The AFO element consists of lateral orthoses with adjustable length and a foot section with adjustable width.
The contact of the feet with the ground increases proprioception and enhances the bone density of the lower limbs.
At the level of the ankle, the orthosis is equipped with an innovative 1R magnetic hinge, allowing the ROM adjustment at the ankle in increments of 15 degrees.
The 1R drop lock operates easily with a spring and a magnet, making it quick, intuitive, and effortless.
The rear part of the WALKER® is equipped with special thigh and shin pads made from lightweight material. These pads reduce the flexion pattern of the lower limbs, which is common in cerebral palsy, and improve the patient’s walking pattern.
The WALKER® provides stabilization at every joint of the lower limb. The materials used in its production meet the highest safety requirements and are extremely durable. That’s why the WALKER® is recommended for children with cerebral palsy and joint deformities.
The WALKER® reduces the child’s dependency and allows for mobility. The product enables the child to attain an upright posture, which is necessary for learning to walk. The position of the pelvis is corrected by the hip basket, which ensures its stability in both the sagittal and frontal planes.
MaxComfort™ is a new generation multi-layer material with exceptional comfort and functionality. The use of a product made from this material provides perfect stability for the limb and high user comfort.
On the side of the body, there is a soft, skin-friendly woven fabric with OekoTex Standard100 certification. The next layer consists of a soft polyurethane foam that ensures comfort in orthosis usage. It fills the space between the orthosis and the limb, increases the contact surface of the orthosis with the user’s skin, reducing local pressure on the body, and it has anti-decubitus properties. The last layer of this material is a technical polyethylene foam, which is designed to relieve the structural elements of the orthosis from the user’s body. The final layer is a technical fabric with a self-adhesive function, allowing you to customize various types of peripheral straps and other details necessary for proper orthotic function.
